Golden specks and golden nuggets

Singapore is full of small specks of nature; Australia is full of beastly nuggets of nature. Singapore’s areas of natural treasures are microscopic compared to Australia’s natural areas. Never the less gold is gold, and it should be treasured no matter the size.

Singapore’s natural spaces are very beautiful, some are human made natural areas. Its virtually impossible to get lost in the wilderness in Singapore. One minute you may be walking along in the forest, next minute your shocked back into the constructed world as you see tall buildings or hear the sound of cars. On the contrary in Australia it is most certainly possible to get lost for days and days in the wilderness, with no MRT services close by!

Catch the wind in your sails

The wind is blowing strong they say,
Back home this is a light, extra ordinary day

The bright sun is striking down as the water is heating,
I feel the wind hit my wet skin, oh what a meeting

We zip and zoom, we are dropped out to sea,
My buddies are gone, it’s only I, myself and me

The lesson on the shore was undertaken with ease,
But now the challenge is mounting, a little help? Anyone? Please?

The Crown Jewel

A short story

It was a humid, dull morning, the grey clouds sat heavy in the sky of the Island of Halibalu. The Green Queen of Halibalu screamed shortly after awakening; it echoed through the streets, like a ripple in calm water, expanding its layers out wider and wider. The guards soon burst into the room. Her crown jewel was stolen!

Tricks and Tips for an 太棒了 Day

Can’t read Chinese? Well: ‘太棒了’ is the word for ‘awesome’. Which summarises my very first day in Singapore!

Reflecting on one’s experience truly helps one to make sense of the day and learn from the experiences encountered. My team was leading on the very first day we arrived in Singapore. We had a very exciting day, seeing some inspiring spectacles of Singapore; our day included: a walk through the Labrador Nature Reserve, Reflections at Bukit Chandu, the Super trees, Cloud forest and the Flower Dome. As facilitators, there were certainly challenges we faced but also great rewards.

Completely Mystified

Its busy, bustling and brutally hot! The city is constantly stirring the people from here to there, its ever expanding in size and knowledge; It’s a place where the trains never stop and the train drivers don’t take lunch breaks. We run from train, to train, to train, to train, to train, to bus, ducking and weaving our way through a sea of people. Land is gold in this place, it is utilised to its full potential, they have even expanded their country by importing sand around the edges and creating islands!
