Working with other learners and thinkers in Outdoor Environmental Education at Federation University enables me to explore concepts and processes of learning. In my daily work life, I attempt to bring the outdoors, indoors, using a range of educational settings to encourage people to think differently.

A fortnight of adventure lasts a lifetime

Some of my thoughts on our two weeks of exploring Singapore.

Congratulations! – Singapore Botanic Gardens declared World Heritage Site

A very big congratulations to our friends at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The Gardens were today declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The first for Singapore and only the third Botanic Gardens in the world.

They were very excited about the possibility when we visited the Gardens yesterday.

They are now expecting an increase in visitor numbers and the associated need to increase visitor management so the gardens can be maintained.

Take a successful grant application, a group of enthusiastic university students and a desire to explore outdoor education on foreign shores, and you have a journey waiting to happen.

This site will document the experiences of 21 outdoor education university students and a couple of staff from Federation University Australia, as they embark on a journey to explore outdoor education in Singapore.
